AMCAB needs Meals on Wheels help
AMCAB says it needs financial help to serve seniors in Marquette County and Alger County who need home–delivered meals.
State and federal funding now accounts for less than half of the money to operate Meals on Wheels each year.
Lori Stephens-Brown of AMCAB says the seniors who receive meals do make donations, but those donations aren’t enough to cover the remaining costs.
She says AMCAB still needs about $30,000 this year to support Meals on Wheels.
AMCAB also needs volunteers to help operate the community senior meal sites that it has.
There are 16 meal sites in Marquette and Alger Counties, including the Gwinn Clubhouse, the Chocolay Township Hall and many others.
If you can volunteer at one of the sites, or if you can make a donation, AMCAB is asking you to contact their offices on Commerce Drive in Marquette Township.
You can just stop in, call them at (906) 228-6522 or visit them online.
