Valentine’s Day comes early in Ishpeming

People celebrated Valentine’s Day early on Friday night in Ishpeming.

Good News Assembly of God hosted their bi-monthly ‘Young at Heart, 50 and Older’ banquet.  Each banquet as a different theme and activity.   This month’s theme was Valentine’s Day.

The purpose of the ‘Young at Heart’ banquets is to remember things they did in their youth.  This month, everyone played charades.

Ellen Parkkonen has been in charge of the banquet for a few years, and says they are all about food, fun and fellowship.  She added that it’s a fun social activity for a laid-back Friday night.

Besides playing charades, dinner, dessert and light refreshments were served.  The banquets are open to the general public, but Parkkonen said they would like to know a week in advance if someone is attending.
