Marquette business growth

In a time of economic hardship and uncertainty, there is still a bright spot for business owners and communities.  It appears that Upper Michigan is on the economic mend – with several counties below the statewide jobless rate of 8.9%.

One community in the central U.P. expects the business boom to keep going.  Thanks to the strong economic anchors of Northern Michigan University and Marquette General Hospital, the city of Marquette has seen steady growth.

From new businesses to the expansion of existing ones, Marquette and its’ downtown have risen from the economic uncertainty.

Last year, the Lake Superior Community Partnership had 27 requests for proposals from businesses looking to move to Marquette County. This year,  the organization has already received 13 requests …and more are expected.
