Fatal snowmobile accident in Iron Co.
Police believe excessive speed was a factor in a fatal snowmibile accident this afternoon in Iron County. It happened around 1 p.m. off of trail 18 on the DNR Road in Amasa.
The victim has been identified as a 54 year old man from Mokena, Illinois. Deputies say he died as a result of injuries he received after his sled left the road and he struck a tree.
Iron County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by Michigan Department of Natural Resource Conservation Officers, Iron County Central Dispatch, and Northstar EMS personnel.
