NMU Skiers at St. Scholastica Invite

BIWABIK, Minn. – The Northern Michigan University Nordic ski teams dominated the classic races on Saturday (Jan. 26) at the St. Scholastica Invite from Giants Ridge. The women led with 67 team points while the men scored 65 on the day.

The women’s squad took four of the top five spots in the 5.8-kilometer race. Freshman Hannah Boyer won the race in 19:15.3. Junior Jordyn Ross (19:25.9), freshman Mary Kate Cirelli (19:49.0) and freshman Malin Eriksson (19:50.8) finished second, third and fourth.

Junior Rosie Frankowski also finished in the top 10 while sophomore Elizabeth Simak (16th) and freshman Megan Edic (25th) rounded out the skiers for NMU.

Junior Erik Soderman won the men’s 11.6K race in 33:15.3. Senior Chris Bowler (33:54.5) placed third while junior George Cartwright (34:32.7) also scored for the ‘Cats in sixth place.

Freshman Sam Elfstrom (12th) and junior Ben Hugus (14th) rounded out the men’s skiers.
