Former NMU hockey player speaks in Marquette

The Economic Club of Marquette County had a former Northern Michigan University hockey player speak to its members tonight.

Eric LeMarque told his story of surviving eight days in sub–freezing temperatures in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California in 2004.  His story was one of adversity, change, ingenuity, perseverance, spiritual restoration and ultimate victory.  LeMarque related his story of survival to the current economic times people are facing.

Dennis Smith, President of the Economic Club of Marquette County said that the club wanted to bring an inspirational and interesting person for the members to hear, and thought that LeMarque was a perfect choice.  He added that for small business owners, it was good to hear LeMarque address bigger challenges and creatively approaches things to get the message out.

Le Marque said that he was glad the Economic Club asked him to tell his story, and was glad to be back in the Upper Peninsula.

The event was sponsored by NMU, and guests were treated to dinner before hearing LeMarque speak.
