A Minnesota man is recovering after a snowmobile accident in Houghton County Saturday afternoon.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department says it took place on Trail 3 in Adams Township between Atlantic Mine and South Range shortly after 4:30 pm.

An unidentified 28-year-old man was heading north when he lost control of his sled and went airborne.

He was thrown from the snowmobile before coming to rest in a ditch off of the trail.

Adams Township first responders treated him at the scene before he was taken to the ER at Portage Health in Hancock.

He has since been transferred to Marquette General for further treatment.

Police say alcohol use was a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.
