I-75 fully open after crashes

Traffic is flowing freely on I-75 north of St. Ignace after Friday’s accidents closed the highway.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department says they re-opened the highway at about 2:30 am.

At about 3:30 Friday afternoon, a car and a semi both lost control on the snow-covered road and drove off of it.

Both accidents happened about 15 miles north of St. Ignace, near the exit for M-134.

Both drivers were treated at Mackinac Straits Hospital for minor injuries.

The semi tipped over onto one side, but none of the propane it was carrying leaked from it.

However, the northbound side of I-75 was closed for about an hour as crews brought the semi upright again.

The highway was then reduced to one lane until early this morning.
