Accidents close I-75 in Mackinac Co.

White out conditions and snow-covered, slippery roads caused two accidents that closed I–75 north of St. Ignace Friday afternoon.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department says the accidents happened at around 3:30, fifteen miles north of St. Ignace near the exit for M-134.

Two vehicles, a car and a semi-tractor trailer, lost control and drove off the road.  The semi-tractor was turned on its side and was carrying 12,000 gallons of propane.  Officials say no propane was leaking.

The accidents caused northbound I-75 to be closed for an hour, and one lane is open as crews try to upright the tractor trailer.

Both drivers were transported to Mackinac Straits Hospital with minor injuries.  The investigation remains under investigation.
