Trial begins for home invasion in Munising
A trial has started in Alger County for one of the Chicago area men charged in connection with an armed home invasion in Munising Township last February.
Ruben Rodriguez was in court Monday. Two of the men, Israel Velez and George Carmona pled guilty for their roles in the case. Another man, Issac Cotto will go to trial later this month.
Police say the four men held a man hostage in his home on East Powell Lake Road in Munising Township.
The men were charged with serious crimes that included: first degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment, and armed robbery.
Rodriguez originally faced the additional felony charges of wearing body armor during the commission of a violent crime and a weapons charge for the discharge of a firearm in or at a building.
