If you have any business to take care of in person at Ishpeming City Hall, you’ll now have to make sure to not do it on Fridays.
In early December, the City Council voted to close City Hall to the public every Friday.
The change takes effect tomorrow.
Ishpeming City Manager Jered Ottenwess says this is not a response to any specific issue, but he says the city has fewer people and resources to work with than ever.
As a result of that, he says it will be helpful for city staff to have one day each week in which they can concentrate on the increased administrative responsibilities that they now have.
Residents can still meet with staff on Fridays by appointment, however.
Ottenwess recommended the change in hours to the City Council before it came up for a vote.
