Marquette H.S. Hockey Alumni Game

They may have not been playing for a “W” in the win column, but they were playing for something much more important- bragging rights.

Thirty -five former Marquette Redmen hockey players suited up for the annual ‘Alumni vs. Alumni’ game Wednesday night. All of the money raised from the game went directly to the Marquette Redmen hockey program.

Graduates from as recent as 2012 and all the way back to 1987 participated in the game. You can ask anyone who has been involved with the Redmen hockey program- the alumni game is a great way for friends to get together back on the ice.

“This is why we started it again just to be around the kids,” said former MSHS coach Joe Papin.

“Former players enjoy it immensely. The relationships you build with the kids is why you coach.”

The game itself did not disappoint. At the end of regulation, it was tied 9-9. The red team defeated the black team 4-3 in a 7 round shootout.
