Fatal Pedestrian Accident Update
The Marquette City Police have released the names of the people involved in the fatal pedestrian accident in the city on Sunday night.
53-year-old John James Mahoney of Marquette died as a result of the accident at the intersection of the US-41 bypass and Grove Street.
The accident happened shortly before 8:30 pm.
Police say Mahoney was trying to cross US-41 when he was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by 35-year-old Shawn William Guertin of Marquette.
The Marquette Fire Department, Medi-Ride EMS, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department and the Marquette Public Works Department assisted at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
