Storm brings heavy snow to the U.P.

Winter storm Draco has made its way through the Upper Peninsula, and over the last 24 hours the U.P. has been covered in snow.

At the National Weather Service in Negaunee Township, 16.4 inches of snow has accumulated since yesterday.  Most of the western U.P. received anywhere between 4 and 8 inches. Ironwood recorded more than a foot of snow.

In central Upper Michigan, snow totals have ranged from 2 inches near the shoreline of Lake Superior to 10 or more inches in the higher elevations. The eastern U.P. was hit the hardest, with totals in Luce County and Chippewa County ranging between 14 and 16 inches.
