Storm causes closures, cancellations
A number of school sporting events have been cancelled or postponed across the U.P., as the winter storm makes its’ way into the area.
The Westwood at Manistique Boys basketball game scheduled for tonight has been postponed until January 7th.
School and community officials across the region say people should call ahead to make sure events will be held.
In Marquette, the Horse-drawn Carriage Rides this evening through downtown have been cancelled.
In Escanaba, several cancellations and closures have been announced:
1. The Civic Center will be closing at 4:00 p.m. due to the weather.
2. The Escanaba Public Library will be closing at 5:00 p.m. due to the weather.
3. The regularly scheduled City Council meeting scheduled for 7:00 p.m. this evening will not be broadcast over Charter Channel 21.
The Marquette County Labor Council Meeting and Christmas Party scheduled for Thursday, December 20th, has been rescheduled for Thursday, 1/10/2013, due to inclement weather.
