The Baraga Area Schools , closed Thursday beacuse of a high percentage of the student body being ill, has canceled classes for Friday, December 7.
The district announced Wednesday that more than 25% of the district’s kindergarten-through-2nd-grade students were either home sick all day or had to leave school early because they’d become ill.
Teachers, too, were absent Wednesday either ill themselves or caring for a sick child.
Many of those students were afflicted with flu-like symptoms. As a precaution, school officials say the building will be cleaned and sanitized to allow for a resumption of classes on Monday.
The school closure means the JV/V boys basketball game vs. Ontonagon will be postponed, a new date has not yet been set for this.
