Wastewater Training Workshop
Wastewater treatment plant operators from around the U.P. got together in Marquette today to learn new ways to do their jobs.
The Citizens Forum Room at Lakeview Arena hosted an administrative workshop.
Wastewater professionals have to meet a continuing education requirement every year.
The workshop helps them meet it with topics like health and safety inspections and mercury discharges.
City of Marquette water and wastewater superintendent Curt Goodman says the Michigan DEQ and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration were there, but he says the networking aspect of the workshop is just as important as the training.
Wastewater staff from one U.P. community to another can often help one another learn about common problems.
The Northern Michigan Public Service Academy offers the workshop once a year.
