The slow economy means many more families are in need this Christmas season…but it also means there’s less money for charities when it’s needed most.

ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen has the details:   “‘Tis the season for giving and what better way to give than to support the United Way?

The Copper Country United Way is currently running their annual fundraising campaign to support 15 local organizations.

And the money stays right here.

The campaign runs through February with a goal of raising $135,000.  So far, only $34,000 has been donated…just over one-fourth of the money needed.
