Hunters found after flashlight batteries go out

Two hunters have been found in Carp Lake Township near Silver City in Ontonagon County late last night after running out of batteries in their flashlight.

At around 11:45 p.m. Friday night, troopers from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post were called to find the hunters in Carp Lake Township.  Troopers tracked the hunters for about 1.5 miles into the woods and located them.

The hunters’ flashlights had run out of batteries and lost power after the two located the deer they shot.  The hunters started a fire to keep warm, and were planning to stay the night in the woods until daylight.

The two were in good health, and walked out of the woods with the troopers.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff Department assisted in the search.
