Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are warning about a new scam.
A 24–year–old woman recently received a phone call from a man claiming he was from Publishers Clearing House.
He said the woman had won a new car and money, but she had to pick up her prizes at the Walmart store in Marquette Township.
The State Police do not know the intent of the caller, nor do they have a description of the suspect.
However, they say he spoke broken English.
The police say to be cautious when talking to unfamiliar people on the phone.
They say that if a caller wants you to send a check or meet them somewhere, it’s most likely a scam.
