Snow Daze planned for Saturday in Marquette

Marquette Mountain will be hosting the inaugural “Snow Daze” event
on Saturday, November 10. There will be a full day of happenings to
kick-off the 2012-13 ski and snowboard season.

Activities will include a kids’ safety and helmet program sponsored
by Kohl’s, a snowsport vendors showcase, ski & snowboard rail jam,
Marquette Mountain season pass pick-up and a spaghetti dinner/ski
movie fundraiser for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame.

The Kohl’s Kids Ski & Snowboard Safety program will be hosted by the
Marquette Mountain Ski Patrol. The program will help kids learn their
Skiers Responsibility Code, basically the rules to follow while skiing
and snowboarding at any ski area, and offer free helmets to kids who
are eligible.

From 12noon to 4pm, there will be local and regional snowsport
retailers, organizations and clubs to showcase the many opportunities
people have to take advantage of the plentiful snowfall in the Upper
Peninsula.

Family activities will keep everyone entertained with a scavenger hunt
and kids’ games throughout the afternoon.  Music and food will be
onsite too. In addition this will be the first day Marquette Mountain
season pass holders can get their pass photos taken for the up-coming
season. A rail jam for skiers and snowboarders is being planned for
3pm.

At 5pm, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard
Hall of Fame will start. Followed by the ski video premier showing of
“Superheros of Stoke” by Matchstick Productions will be screened
at 7pm. A winter gear fashion show is being planned to open the show.

Tickets for the Hall of Fame fundraiser are $10 in advance of dinner
and a movie or $7.50 adults day of and $5 for kids. Admission to the
movie day of will be $5 a person.

The Kohl’s Kids safety and helmet program is free of charge as well
as the afternoon activities.
