NMU soccer players honored by GLIAC

BAY CITY, Mich. – Senior forward Amelia Johnson of the Northern Michigan University soccer team was selected All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team on Friday (Nov. 2). Sophomore midfielder Kim Rietveld is an honorable mention selection.

Johnson, a native St. Michael, Minn., started all 17 games for the Wildcats in 2012. She led the team with 50 shots and was second with seven points on three goals and an assist. Johnson scored at Tiffin (Sept. 28), Findlay (Sept. 29) and at home against Malone (Oct. 28). She finished her career with 21 goals and seven assists in 76 games.

Rietveld, a native of New Lenox, Ill., also started all 17 games and scored two goals with one assist. She scored at Ferris State (Oct. 19) and at home against Malone (Oct. 28). Rietveld has five goals and one assist in 36 career games.

The Wildcats finished the season 4-13 overall and 3-10 in the GLIAC.
