Benishek Unable to Attend Candidate Forum

The U.P. Children’s Coalition and the Marquette chapter of the American Association of University Women are holding a candidate forum tonight at 7 at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The invited candidates include those running for the 107th, 108th, 109th and 110th State Representative seats as well as for Michigan’s 1st Congressional District seat.

However, Congressman Dan Benishek will not be attending.

A spokesman for Benishek’s re–election campaign says in a statement to ABC 10,

“Dr. Dan is disappointed he is not able to participate in this evening’s forum due to a conflict with events associated with a previously scheduled Congressional veterans round-table.

Dr. Dan greatly appreciates the value of this evening’s event, having been the only congressional candidate to participate in the same forum in 2010.

Throughout this campaign, Dr. Dan has made a point to meet with, and hear from, voters of Northern Michigan at several events in each of the 1st District’s counties, including two forums earlier this week, and encourages any voter with questions to contact his campaign at 231-714-4747 or Benishek2012.com to have their voice heard.”
