Tentative New Deal for Cliffs & Mine Workers

Cliffs Natural Resources and workers at the Empire and Tilden mines have a tentative agreement on a new contract.

Cliffs says it’s a new three-year offer to the United Steelworkers that will cover approximately 2,400 USW-represented workers at the Empire and Tilden mines in Michigan, and its United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Minnesota.

The agreement is pending ratification by USW local union members.

Cliffs says no additional details will be released at this time.

The United Steelworkers Local 4974 claim on their website that the tentative new deal will last 37 months, or just over three years.
