New Presque Isle Park Playground

Sometime in the near future, one of the main recreation areas in the city of Marquette is going to have a new playground.

The Friends of Presque Isle group has raised $8,000 to build a new playground at Presque Isle Park.

It’ll blend in with the forested surroundings.

Tonight, the City Commission voted to give the contract for the work to U.P. Engineers and Architects of Ishpeming.

The firm is expected to give the city a final draft of their plan in January.

The Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee recommended their bid at a meeting last week.

The City Commission also signed its contract tonight with MDOT for the city’s Safe Routes to school project.

The signing means nearly $175,000 in grant money involving Bothwell Middle School.
