Meth Production Leads to Brush Fire

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are investigating a brush fire in Marquette Township that they believe came from an attempt to cook meth.

The Marquette Township Fire Department got a call about the fire shortly after 7 this morning.

It was in a wooded area off of Forestville Road.

About an hour later, firefighters found what they say were meth production components and they called the State Police.

A meth cleanup team secured the area.

The fire was about a thousand square feet in size.

The State Police say they have no suspects yet.

If you have any information, they’re asking you to call them at the Negaunee Post at 475–9922.
