Chippewa County Marijuana Ring
Ten people in Chippewa County are charged in a marijuana trafficking ring.
The county prosecutor says all ten people were arrested Thursday.
The investigation began when a county sheriff’s deputy found marijuana plants at the scene of a domestic assault.
That led to search warrants in Kinross, St. Ignace, Sault Ste. Marie and Brimley.
Several hundred plants, hash oil, records of transactions and other evidence have been seized.
The prosecutor also says some of the suspects are believed to have had children as young as two years old in and around the marijuana grow operation while it, and the hash oil, were being processed.
55–year–old Jimmie Miller of Brimley has the most criminal charges.
He’s facing seven counts of fourth–degree child abuse and one count each of marijuana delivery or manufacture, operating or maintaining a lab in the presence of a minor and operating a criminal enterprise.
46–year–old Patricia Sawasky of Brimley has one count each against her of fourth-degree child abuse, marijuana delivery or manufacture and operating a criminal enterprise.
34–year–old Jeremy Miller of Brimley is charged with four counts of fourth-degree child abuse, two counts of marijuana delivery or manufacture and one count of operating a criminal enterprise.
32–year–old Nichole Miller of Brimley is facing those same charges.
30–year–old Nicole Sherman–Miller of Brimley has two counts of fourth-degree child abuse against her, along with one count each of marijuana delivery or manufacture and operating a criminal enterprise.
24–year–old John Sawasky of Brimley is accused of one count each of marijuana delivery or manufacture and operating a criminal enterprise.
55–year–old Robert Tadgerson of Brimley, 39–year–old Stuart Young of Barbeau and 59–year–old Lori Young of Barbeau are all facing those same charges.
55–year–old David Ripley of Sault Ste. Marie is charged with two counts of fourth-degree child abuse.
The prosecutor says more arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
The Straits Area Narcotics Team, the Bay Mills Police and local Child Protective Services agents have helped in the investigation.
