Cop Assaulted After Neighbor Dispute
An argument between neighbors in Schoolcraft County ends with one of the neighbors arrested for assaulting a police officer.
The Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department says it took place on County Road 440 in Hiawatha Township sometime between 4 and 5 pm Wednesday afternoon.
After speaking with witnesses, police say they determined an assault had taken place.
When the sheriff and a deputy tried to make contact with the suspect, they say the suspect struck the deputy.
The sheriff and the deputy used pepper spray and arrested the suspect.
The deputy was treated for minor injuries at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.
The suspect is in the Schoolcraft County Jail, charged with assault, resisting and obstructing an officer, resisting and obstructing causing injury and a probation violation.
