Salvation Army in need of donations
One of the most noticeable effects of the sluggish local and national economy can be found in charitable giving. Need does not take a vacation in the summer months. And food pantries are finding that out the hard way.
The Ishpeming Salvation Army is asking for any non–perishable food items that people can spare. Items are often hard to come by during warmer weather. But this summer has been especially slow.
The Ishpeming Salvation Army provides food for nearly a hundred families each month. “Project Food for a Neighbor” helped them out quite a bit back in April. And the community is usually very generous around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
