Woman Falls from Little Presque Isle

A young woman is recovering at Marquette General Hospital after falling from a cliff at Little Presque Isle.

U.S. Coast Guard Station Marquette says it happened shortly before 6 pm Saturday.

The young woman’s name and address are not available, but the Coast Guard says she’s 18 years old.

When they arrived, they say they found her several feet above the water on the east side cliff.

She had fallen about 20 feet and had hit her head on a rock.

The young woman was conscious and was taken to MGH for treatment of lacerations on the back of her head.

Jumping from the cliffs in the Little Presque Isle and Black Rocks areas is legal, but the Coast Guard is asking residents and visitors to not do so.

They say the shallow water makes the jumps highly dangerous.
