Cliffs contract notification information

On the Marquette Iron Range, all eyes are focused on the midnight deadline of the current four year labor agreement between the Union Steelworkers Union and Cliffs Natural Resources.

By midnight Friday, nearly 1,200 employees of the Tilden and Empire mines will know whether or not they have a new contract.  If a new deal is signed, union employees will report to work as scheduled.  If an agreement cannot be reached, the company plans to continue to operate the facilities.

Both sides are continuing negotiations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Cliffs has asked ABC 10 to provide notification of a settlement, or lack thereof, Friday night.  That notification will be via Twitter (@upabc10),  Facebook (ABC 10 News Now), this website and a message at the bottom of the television screen.
