MQT Co. Board Meeting
The Marquette County Board of Commissioners met for a regular board meeting Tuesday night. The hot topic again was regarding the possible mining Severance Tax in relation to government consultants in Lansing.
The board has been working with their government consultants in Lansing regarding multiple issues the board has faced this year. The board agreed that quite often these lobbyist help to get them behind doors they would often not have access too. Such as the Governor’s office, the Speaker of the House’s office, and the Majority Leader of the Senate’s office. All of those places are crucial for getting answers about the Severance Tax issue.
The board further discussed sending a letter to the Governor’s office requesting a meeting be held among all groups effected by the possible tax.
Tonight the board approved the prepared memo be sent down to the Governor’s office.
