Smoking may become illegal in city parks in Houghton.
There soon may be fewer places where smoking is allowed in the city of Houghton.
The City Council is proposing a ban on the use of all kinds of tobacco products in all city-owned parks and beaches except the City of Houghton RV Park.
Violations will be punishable by a $50 fine.
Smoking in cars would still be allowed.
A public meeting will be held on August 22nd before the council votes on the ordinance.
