If you have whiplash from just driving past a gas station tonight, you’re already aware of the sticker shock of the central U.P.’s gas prices.

Gas stations in Marquette County advertised regular unleaded gas at $4.09 a gallon this afternoon.

A week ago, Governor Rick Snyder declared a state of energy emergency because of delayed fuel shipments.

That delay was because a supply pipeline was compromised just outside Milwaukee.

Elsewhere on our website, we have information on U.P.-wide and statewide fuel prices.

GasBuddy.com shows that, in the past 24 hours, the lowest prices in the U.P. were in Houghton at $3.78 a gallon.

On the statewide level, the lowest prices were in Detroit at $3.57 a gallon, while the highest were in Farmington Hills at $4.29.
