Return engagement of "Behind the Dandelions"

If you missed the first run of a popular local theatre production, you still have a chance to see it.

Lake Superior Theatre and the Marquette Regional History Center have teamed up to offer a return engagement of Behind the Dandelions.  It premiered to rave reviews at Kaufman Auditorium in June.

Written and performed by Monica Nordeen, with music composed and performed on stage by Carrie Biolo, the performance is guaranteed to both entertain and delight all interested in Marquette’s unique cultural heritage.

Behind the Dandelions will be performed three nights at the Lake Superior Theatre Boat House, Wednesday, August 15 through Friday, August 17 at 7:30 P.M.

Behind the Dandelions is an original collaboration between actress and playwright Nordeen, composer and musician Biolo and director Keli Truckey. Nordeen entertainingly portrays Caroll Watson Rankin, one of Marquette’s most famous authors, presenting her life from childhood story writing up to Henry Holt and Company’s publication of her first novel, Dandelion Cottage.

Behind the Dandelions is a multi-media journey utilizing period costume and props, visual images, and original Rankin family letters from the J.M. Longyear Research Library at the Marquette Regional History Center. The performance chronicles Rankin’s early years fighting for a job as a Mining Journal society reporter, writing a story for the children at the dinner table, and her struggle raising four children while Mr. Rankin is away looking for work.
