Dames Gone Wild
When you hear about women gone wild, the image of younger women on spring break from college likely comes to mind.
But two ladies from St. Petersburg, Florida who call themselves Dames Gone Wild are visiting Marquette County this weekend on a national volunteering tour.
They’ll spend the weekend working at UPAWS in Negaunee Township.
The two women volunteer to help people, pets and planets.
Dames Gone Wild founder Carol Hasbrouck says they’re traveling 12,000 miles this year across the U.S. to help people in need, connect with others at a one–to–one level and uplift others who’ve had a loss of some sort, especially women.
Carol founded Dames Gone Wild after getting laid off from the mortgage industry in January.
Volunteer Joyce Claflin says that age 60, the trip has been liberating; she says it’s very easy to be boxed in through life by our beliefs and our fears.
Joyce says the volunteering adventure has encouraged her to be more spontaneous and enjoy living more.
Carol and Joyce say you should watch for them next week as well; they’ll be in Marquette next Tuesday, giving hugs to random passers–by.
