Louie's Fresh Market Groundbreaking

Construction began today on the nearly 40,000-square-foot Louie’s Fresh Market on US–41 in Osceola Township.
Replacing an eyesore left over from a couple of closed–down businesses, workers have spent the last couple of weeks clearing the land.
Now it’s time to start building.
With the addition of a four–pump Shell gas station, a 10,000-square-foot hardware store and even a couple of franchise restaurants included in the project, the building of the new store is part of the revitalization of the community.
About 15 more jobs than there are currently at Louie’s Super Foods in Calumet will be added.
Thirty to forty more are also likely as part of the new franchises, so more than just the name is being changed.
The doors to the new grocery store are scheduled to open to customers in December.
