Drowning in Ontonagon County

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol was a factor in an out of state man drowning Tuesday.

Police were called Tuesday at 1:53 p.m. to a possible drowning in Lake Superior near the Sunshine Motel in Ontonagon.

A 54 year old man from Billings, Montana, who had been seen walking the beach earlier, was found floating in Lake Superior. His body was approximately 20 yards off shore.

A Michigan State Police -Wakefield evidence tech team assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
