Ishpeming 4th of July Parade

The streets of downtown Ishpeming were lined with people of all ages as the city celebrated America’s birthday.

Roaring engines from all sorts of cars and trucks greeted the crowd, including a Negaunee fire engine from 1945. Kids eagerly scooped up free candy and treats that were tossed onto the streets. They also enjoyed an assortment of musical groups.

This year’s parade theme was ‘Celebrating our Mining Heritage’. A boy scout troop got into the spirit with a ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarves’ float, since the dwarves were miners.

Ishpeming’s July 4th picnic includes a flyover tonight by two F–16’s from the Minnesota Air NationalGguard 148th Fighter Wing, based in Duluth.
