Pasty Fest: a success

Maybe right about now…people who attended Pastyfest in Calumet over the weekend are finally starting to feel hungry again.

Residents and visitors to the Copper Country were able to get their fill of delicious Pasties at Saturday’s Pastyfest in Calumet.

Crowds gathered early to watch the parade before heading over to Agassiz Park where some familiar vendors and one newcomer were waiting with the piping hot treats.

The Old School Baking Company was taking part in its first pasty bake-off.

The competition for the best commercial pasty was tough again this year…with four time winner Connie’s Kitchen trying to win back the title.

But last year’s Pasty King would have something to say about that as his pasties were once again a big hit.

And when all the pasties were tasted and the votes tallied…

Roy’s Pasties swept the Commerical Category as their Vegetarian Pasty also won the Non-Traditional Pasty contest.

Dan and Marsha Klein were the top pick in the non-commercial Traditional Copper Country Recipe category and Leslie Hines won the non-traditional category with her breakfast pasty.
