MAPS Approves Proposed Budget

The Marquette Area Public School Board held a public hearing tonight on the proposed budget for the 2012–2013 school year.

The purpose of tonight’s hearing was to inform tax payers where their tax dollars are being used.

The proposed budget for the 2012–2013 school year has a gap of nearly $1.3 million dollars between revenues and expenditures. For the board, this raises a few problems.

MAPS has reduced its expenditures by over $2 million to help balance the reduction in revenues. The board voted to approve this budget resolution.
