Another meth lab in the U.P., this time in Houghton County.
Two suspects are being held in the Houghton County jail on charges of running a meth lab.

26–year old Michael Newberry and 25–year old Nichole Saatio of Chassell were both arraigned in 97th District Court today.
They are charged with possession of methamphetamines or ecstasy and operating a laboratory involving methamphetamine.
Both charges are felonies and carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Bond was set at 10% of $100,000 for each of the suspects.

The sheriff’s department said a short investigation around 4:15 on Sunday afternoon led to a search of a vacant trailer home at a residence in Chassell Township.

Property and evidence was gathered that suggested a small–scale methamphetamine operation was in place.
Two children…ages 15 months and 5 years…were taken from the residence and placed in temporary care.
A preliminary exam was scheduled for June 29th.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and their meth lab response team…as well as the Chassell Fire Department.
