The winning entries were:

First Place – Jacob Wolf from Marquette – $10,000
Second Place – Haley Luxton from Burton – $2,500
Third Place – Natalie Berger from Ferndale – $1,000

“I congratulate these students for their incredible talent, creativity and hard work throughout this competition,” said Whitmer. “They have truly showcased the impact that an investment in their future through higher education would have not only on their own lives, but on all of us in the State of Michigan.”

Students were asked to create a short web video that illustrates the importance of a higher education and how the Michigan 2020 Plan to offer free college tuition to all students would affect them, their families and Michigan’s economy as a whole. The public’s vote in the finals was combined with the votes of a judging panel to determine the winners.

“Tens of thousands of Michigan residents watched these creative entries from students across the state that displayed their belief that our Michigan 2020 Plan is the right plan for our state’s future,” added Whitmer. “Their commitment to our state further emphasizes the need for this Legislature to take action on the Michigan 2020 Plan and bring the jobs and economic investment back to Michigan that will provide all of our students with the ability to succeed for generations to come.”
