Seney area wildfire will close M-28 Thursday

The Michigan Department of Transportation says, beginning between 8 and 9 a.m. Thursday, MDOT will close M-28 between Shingleton and Seney to allow the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to conduct back-burning operations from the highway. This activity is expected to take several hours, but the exact duration of the closure is not yet known. The official detour during the closure will be on M-94, US-2, and M-77. Several portable changeable message signs have been placed around the area to alert motorists of the wildfire and the closure. MDOT will announce when the highway has been reopened.
