Marquette County Ballot Issues

Voters in two Marquette County communities have ballot issues today: the City of Ishpeming and Forsyth Township.

In Forsyth Township, residents will vote on the following local proposals:

Forsyth Township Library Bond Proposal

Shall the Township of Forsyth, County of Marquette, Michigan, borrow the principal sum of not to exceed One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,500,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefore, payable in not to exceed thirty (30) years from the date of issue?

Forsyth Township Library New Additional Millage Proposal

An increase by an amount not to exceed .50 mill ($.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) for a period of 30 years, 2012 to 2041, inclusive?

Forsyth Township Millage Renewal Proposal

A renewal of the millage for the purposes of operating a Police Department, $1,000 of State Equalized Valuation (1 mill) of all property in the Township for a period of six years, 2014 through 2019 inclusive, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $179,200.00.

Forsyth Township Police Department Operations Millage

An increase of one (1) mill ($1.00 per $1,000.00), on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Forsyth Township, Marquette County, Michigan for the purpose of Police Department Operations.
