NMU Athletic Director Search

Northern Michigan University officials now know who they want to hire as the school’s next athletic director.

However, there’s no word yet on which candidate they have in mind.

On Friday morning, NMU President Dr. Les Wong gave the Board of Trustees his recommendation during a closed session.

The board was expected to approve Dr. Wong’s recommendation during another closed session Friday afternoon.

A formal announcement could come as soon as Monday.

The search has been in progress since January, when Ken Godfrey stepped down from the AD position after seven and a half years.

He had been on a medical leave of absence since being diagnosed with a form of leukemia in October 2010.
