Goodbye to Sawyer Airport Manager

For the manager of one of the U.P.’s airports, today was a day of goodbyes.

Keith Kaspari has managed Sawyer International Airport since July 2003.

He’s moving to Lansing to become the deputy director of the Capital Region Airport Authority.

Co–workers and other residents bade farewell to him this morning, and Kaspari says he found it touching, as he’s become very fond of the Marquette County area over the years.

Local author Larry Chabot wrote a bogus edition of the airport’s newsletter specifically for the occasion to poke some gentle fun at Kaspari.

While it’s tongue in cheek, it’s a sign that he’ll be missed.

Tomorrow is Kaspari’s final day on the job at Sawyer.

His first day of work in Lansing is May 14th, two weeks from today.
