Budget Cuts Continue for MAPS

With budget cuts still a concern for the Marquette Area Public School District, the board is considering some changes for the upcoming 2012–2013 school year.

The budget reduction plan continued to be discussed tonight at the MAPS school board meeting, with the focus on projected staffing and class size changes. The meeting was packed with teachers and administration all concerned about changes in store for the district. Marquette Senior High School will see a total staffing reduction of five.

Due to a decrease in funding for the district, an increase in expenses, and declining enrollment, the Marquette School District has worked on their budget reduction plan to help eliminate a two million dollar budget deficit.
