Young people from western Marquette County who excel in the classroom were honored by one of the area’s largest employers for their hard work.
Cliffs Natural Resources held its Excellence in Education Day today.
It was for about 200 local students who pulled down straight a’s in the fall semester.
The students from the Negaunee, Ishpeming, NICE and Republic-Michigamme school districts were treated to a tour, lunch at the Marquette Holiday Inn and academic awards.
Northern Michigan University president Dr. Les Wong was also on hand to speak with the students about the value of volunteer work.
This was Cliffs’ 23rd annual Excellence in Education Day.
