Ex-NMU Football Coach lands new job

Randy Awrey, who was the Defensive Coordinator at Northern Michigan University from 2007-2011, has been hired to be the new Defensive Coordinator at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.

Awrey resigned from his position at NMU on November 30, 2011, after then head coach Bernie Anderson was let go the day before by the University. Before his job at NMU, Awrey was the head coach at Saginaw Valley State University, where he complied a record of 76-27. He was fired by SVSU in 2007, after the university self report found that he violated NCAA rules.

Marietta College is a Division III school on the Ohio/West Virginia border, and is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Awrey’s son, Nicky, will play on the Pioneers football team starting this fall.
